This Mercedes Benz 280se Automatic was built in East London by Car Distributors and is finished in Yellow with the local “Silveroak” upholstery leather in Tan (unique to South African specification cars). According to the original service booklet the official Mercedes Benz dealer for Cape Town, Stanley Porter (Pty) Ltd based at Riebeek Square, carried out the pre delivery inspection on the 13th of January 1970. It was delivered shortly thereafter to Mr I. R. Garlick of the famous Garlick’s department store -- Currently the odometer shows 05 351km which from the above maintenance summary means the true mileage should be 105 351 km. It is rare to find a Mercedes Benz W108 in excellent condition with the original book set from new.
