I am selling my 1.4m Howling Moon roof top tent.1.4m width gives slightly more internal space than the smaller 1.2m tents, but still compact enough to fit neatly on top a double cab or canopy without overhanging on the edges.Made of heavy duty canvas plus a built in rain sheet, this tent has kept me warm during the coldest winter camps. It’s also roomy enough to leave a duvet and pillows inside when closed. It also comes with an additional zip on extra room, although this is a bit of a faff unless you are planning to stay in the same spot for a few days. All spring poles, and other components are included. I am leaving a string of internal LED lights that have been neatly cable tied to the internal structure. All you need to do is plus a USB battery pack into the end (see photos). While the tent is completely sounds structurally it does need some running repairs to bring it up to A+ condition (hence the very attractive price). These include, for complete transparency:The cover has some minor scuff and abrasions, and a couple of small holes. Nothing a few patches can’t sort out. Or you can have a new cover made (this is my second cover). The ladder needs a repair, or replacement (see photos), as one of the hinges has broken. Also the catches on the slide haven’t worked in years (I usually just have a small bolt on hand that I use as a catch. You can buy telescopic replacement ladder from most camping stores, which is probably the best solution. The U-bar that holds up the canvas entrance broke the first time I used it. It’s been strapped up, and I’ve used it like that for years without issue (see photos). However recently the small plastic ball joints have split (I think just from plastic fatigue over the years). You can buy replacements from most good camping stores (I’ve definitely see them at Camp ‘n Climb recently). You can probably also get a new aluminium pole and bend a new u-bar and fit the ball joints without much hassle. Finally the bug netting needs to be replaced. There are a few small splits, but on my last trip my kids managed to put a fairly big rip into the front entrance bug mesh (see photos). That’s the full story. I’ve loved this tent for many years, and it’s been with me through Botswana, the Kgalagadi, Namibia, and most of the wild camps in the Western Cape. The reason I am selling rather than repairing it myself is that I am planning to switch to a hard shell tent for the faster pitch and breakdown.

This 4,624-hectare farm is situated between Calvinia and the quaint town of Loeriesfontein, an area well-known for the production of quality mutton, as well as the production of wool. The farm lies in a predominantly winter rainfall area with occasional thunderstorms in summer. After good winter rains the veldt erupts into a hotspot of beautiful flowers and bulbs, carpeting vast areas in brilliant colours. The mountainous areas to the North of the farm are exceptional quality veldt and in pristine condition. Due to the 947-metre-high elevation, these mountainous areas enjoy a higher rainfall than the Niewoudtville escarpment. The house is situated at 562-metre above sea level. Natural grazing consists of palatable shrubs and nutritious succulents which bloom after good winter rains. On some of the hills you will find the quiver tree which is probably the most spectacular aloe species to be found in South Africa, due to its sculptural form. Ample water for about 27-hectare gravity flood irrigation is available from 3 earth dams that fill after good rains. This acreage is contoured and ready for planting. Lucerne and winter grains for fodder do well in this dry climate. The previous owner planted up to 90-hectares of lucerne.A perennial fountain and 5 windmills supply drinking water for the livestock. Various 4x4 tracks will take you to the highest outer reaches of the farm. The perimeter fencing is mostly jackal-proof (90%) and the farm`s total acreage is well-planned and sub-divided into various inner camps. The carrying capacity is 1:30 LSU. The homestead boasts 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and is in need of maintenance. There is also a 2-bedroom cottage, an old farmhouse as well as 2 storage facilities. Kudu, Klipspringer and various indigenous antelope roam the area. For sale as a going concern at R8,8 million excluding VAT (the seller is a VAT vendor, and the sale can be structured as a 0% VAT going concern).Property Reference #: CL630Agent Details:Irma PoolAgrisell PTY Ltd9A Kerk StreetPiketberg7320

Flanked by 2 mountains, this 2,486-hectare farm is blessed with a diverse topography which ranges from high mountains, secluded valleys, and 300-hectare arable land. The farm consists of 2 title deeds. Take note that during the previous 30 years this farm has been developed from a typical Koue Bokkeveld-like farm to a lucrative farming operation with several large earth dams irrigating 84-hectares. About 24-hectares of the irrigating acreage is planted with lucerne. Irrigation water is obtained from 5 fitted boreholes with a capacity of 170,000-cub metre per hour. Application for the registration of the water usage rights have been submitted. Various inner-camps are properly planned and the water supply is meaningfully spread over the farm for efficient veldt and fodder utilization. The farming infrastructure for a farm of this nature is good. Currently the owner has toned down his farming operations and therefor the opportunity exists to revive this farm to its former glory or to transfer this farm into a sought-after game farm. In the mountainous areas the scenery is unbelievable. About 300-hectares of the entire farm was utilized for grazing with sheep on pastures. The farm is a well-planned going concern with about 20 inner-camps. During the winter rainy season oats and medics can be planted, with established lucerne in some camps. Due to the diversity of grazing and vegetation the carrying capacity is about 500 ewes. The shearing shed and sheep handling facilities are in good repair. Farms of this nature are seldom offered for sale and this farm offers the opportunity to an economically feasible farming operation and lends itself to the production of quality meat and wool. Water is obtained from 3 windmills as well as 5 large earth dams, fed from the winter rains runoff. There are also smaller earth dams spread over the farm. All windmills and fencing are well kept due to proper maintenance. It has numerous buildings, including a sound main homestead situated in a lush garden, as well as labourer cottages. These houses can easily be transformed into guest cottages. Bearing in mind its excellent location, the ambiance from the elevated position of the houses, relatively close to all amenities, safe and secure location, it is quite different from what you would expect from this part of the Ceres district!Different fynbos species are also to be found on the higher lying areas and some of the valleys are undisturbed fynbos veldt. The farm is situated right next to the quant little Karoo town of Klaarstroom, 53 km from Prince Albert, 27 km from De Rust and 60 km from Oudtshoorn. The N12 provides easy access to the farm, with only 1 km drive to main house when you turned from the N12. The farm is nestled at the foothills of the Zwartberg mountains close to the entrance of Meiringspoort. The Wit River and the Groot River meanders through this farm. The size of the farm is 4011 hectares. Currently there are two title deeds consisting of 4004 hectares of farmland and 7 hectares with registered individual residential erven. The owner is busy with a redivision of the farm which would see the two current title deeds held on the property consolidated into two new potions of 3335 hectares (outfield with the individual erven) and 676 hectares (arable land and main house). However, this registration has not been finalised yet. Breakdown of the property as it stands:On the 7-hectare portion:1. Workshop (320 sqm)2. 1-hectare irrigated lucerne3. 280 Olive trees4. 10 Site Caravan Park5. 29 Residential plots6. 2 Boreholes (+/- 20,000 litres per hour each)7. 10kW solar pump installation fitted to one of the boreholesOn the 4004-hectare portion:1. There are another 3 more boreholes which can be utilized. The veld is very well looked after as it has not been used for commercial farming. Depending on the redivision of the farm the two new pieces of land has many possibilities. The 7-ha portion will then be part of the larger title deed. The land size will be +/- 3335 hectares.
