The mahogany body is much flatter than your traditional L es Paul, and the headstock and tuner stylings are most definitely Epiphone! It features a nickel tune-o-matic bridge (as you might find on a L es Paul Standard) twin hot open-coil Epiphone 700T abd 650R humbucker pickups.
The neck has a 1960s slim taper 'D' profile, which is just as you'd expect on an acoustic, only thinner. The 22 fret, rosewood fretboard, which feels almost just like a Standard L es Paul due to the same 24.75" scale length.
Streamlined, so a little smaller and weighing less than many of the L es Paul axes you’ll encounter, the Special II nonetheless delivers a fat and nasty tone, thanks to its two open-coil humbucker pickups. The Special II features a mahogany body and neck, a rosewood fretboard with a 1.68″ nut width, chrome hardware, and volume and tone controls. This is the go-to guitar for those who want to learn on a L es Paul style quitar but don’t want to break the bank.
