I am a South African Farmer residing in Botswana for the past ten years.

Over the past couple of years I have noticed a huge decline in the Agricultural sector in South Africa. Foot and mouth desease , Vegetable and fruit bans for various reasons , Fruit Fly etc , and now Gros desease in cereal crops. This has also resulted in a ban from Botswana Government on all cereal grains. The other disturbing factor is the red meat industry in South Africa.

Here in Botswana it is different. We have a flourishing beef and lamb export market and loads of relatively cheap farm land available for all sorts of crops and vegetables production. Problem here is our local farmers lack skills and finance.

For the past three or so years I have devised a very comprehensive business plan, for the ideal farming project.

Briefly. Botswana imports 90% of all goods from South Africa including Cattle Fodder and Feed .This is done at a huge cost , especially for us in the Northern part of Botswana, Ngamiland.

Vegetables and fruit and Beef products are always in great demand here , this due to the world famous Okavango Delta where there are roughly a 180 high end Safari Lodges that accommodate thousands of tourists each year from around the globe each year. These lodges rely solely on these products from our local supermarkets and meat outlets. As stated previously, all the good beef is exported .The result is , most of the second grade cattle are then made available for local use .Quality is always questionable. Plus the shortages of fresh produce.

My project aims to alleviate all these shortages.

This project would create many much needed jobs for our community and relieve pressure on our supermarkets and meat outlets.

My aim is to start my own Meat outlet , selling only Prime Grade Beef &Lamb as well as Vegetables and some fruit .

Also this project will produce its own cattle fodder totally and a feed lot would be created for the Meat Market outlet to supply the lodges and other tourist enterprises .So direct from farm to table and eliminate the middle man .

Vision is to breed all my own stock for feedlot , sell excess for export. I have an ace card to play with reagrds to the quality cattle required, these cattle are not in Botswana as yet and doubt they will ever be.I have outlined this strategy in my Business Plan. Competition, only two other butcher shops that supply these lodges .Plus the few supermarkets. As stated meat quality is always questionable.

My question is , are there any farmers or investors who would be interested in looking at such a project in a joint venture capacity.

Botswana has a stable economy and a Good Government , relatively crime free .
