Our client based in Ladysmith is looking for a Production Foreman/ Chargehand to join their team. The purpose of the role is to oversee and coordinate the manufacturing process, ensuring production targets, product quality, and safety standards are met while managing and supervising the production team effectively.

Production Management

• Oversee and coordinate the manufacturing process to meet production schedules and deadlines.

• Ensure production runs smoothly with minimal downtime by equipping employees with the correct tools, materials, and information.

• Monitor actual production against planned targets and report any shortfalls or issues.

• Ensure all machine settings are correctly completed before start-up.

• Report daily production figures and employee attendance to management.

• Attend production meetings and communicate relevant updates to the team.

• Enforce discipline and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Quality and Process Improvement

• Conduct daily quality inspections to ensure products meet specifications.

• Collaborate with quality supervisors to address product defects and implement corrective actions.

• Identify and implement continuous process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste using lean manufacturing principles.

• Monitor material usage and wastage, reporting when above targets.

• Support ongoing improvements in production, quality, and health and safety.

Health and Safety

• Maintain and enforce safe working conditions in the plant, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

• Monitor employees to ensure proper use of safety gear and adherence to safety protocols.

• Promote and ensure proper housekeeping standards on the production floor.

Inventory and Maintenance

• Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and coordinate with supply chain to prevent production disruptions.

• Report maintenance issues immediately to the maintenance department.

• Assist with stocktaking as required.

Supervision and Team Leadership

• Supervise production employees, ensuring they are productive and equipped to meet their roles efficiently.

• Minimize idle time by effective workforce and machinery utilization.

• Ensure all required documentation such as handover sheets are completed and signed off.
  
  

• Matric (Grade 12) is essential.

• Relevant tertiary qualification is advantageous.

• Proven experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.

• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.

• Demonstrated leadership and team supervision experience.

• Ability to enforce discipline and maintain a safe work environment.

LOCATION: Port Elizabeth Plant, CLOSING DATE: 09 June 2025

Purpose: Responsible for performing various types of measurements & operating Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE). Prepares quality-related documentation & identifies, reports, & assists in resolving nonconforming M&TE issues to maintain product and process integrity.

Personal Specifications:

· Must possess the ability to analyze and resolve issues quickly through root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions back to the production departments.

· Must have the necessary skill set to ensure job placement flexibility and the ability to rotate across various positions within the plant, such as Production or Quality.

· Must display strong customer orientation, with a commitment to upholding plant processes through strict adherence to the Quality Operating System (QOS).

· Must demonstrate the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, while maintaining a strong focus on execution and achieving results.

· Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficient in English (spoken and written).

· A team player with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions, demonstrating excellent judgment & accountability.

Qualifications & Experience:

· Grade 12 / Matric Certificate

· Minimum 3 years of experience in a Measuring Room as a Metrologist

· Qualified Toolmaker with at least 7 years of experience

· CMM programming experience using PolyWorks software
