Building Supervisor
Reason for Reporting
Khanya College seeks to appoint a Events, Catering and Building Supervisor in the House of Movements, based in Johannesburg.
Starting date: As soon as possible.
Responsibilities: Building Supervisor Functions:
· Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in building and canteen cleaning and maintenance services.
· Assigns building and canteen cleaning and maintenance work to employees, following material and work requirements.
· Inspect work performed to ensure that it conforms to specifications and established standards.
· Records personnel data on specified forms.
· Recommend personnel actions, such as hiring and discharges, to ensure proper staffing.
· Consults and discusses with staff to resolve work, production and personnel problems.
· Train or facilitate training of workers in building cleaning and maintenance methods and procedures and proper operation of equipment.
· Ensure that the building has adequate supplies of cleaning materials, basic maintenance equipment, and other supplies as the case may be.
· Ensure that the building and canteen complies with various by-laws and legislation governing buildings in Johannesburg, including but not restricted to, fire legislation.
· Under the direction of the senior management, represent the House of Movements in city forums that seek to improve the wider environment in which the House of Movements is located.
Events Organiser Functions
· Interaction with individuals and organisations seeking to host events at the House of Movements
· Promotion of House of Movements events’ hosting facilities to potential client organisations.
· Ensure that there is proper and efficient preparation and management of events hosted in the building.
· Working with the Marketing Department to promote the conference and education facilities.
· Managing travel arrangement of Khanya staff.
· Creation of an information base to enhance the College’s management of events and the conference/education facilities.
· Create and administrative infrastructure to manage events both for Khanya, the House of Movements and for client organisations
· To manage staff in the Events department.
· Manage the fleet of cars and drivers to facilitate BBB and Khanya events and programes.
· Perform whatever administrative functions are necessary to fulfil these responsibilities.
Salary and Benefits: The College offers traditional benefits like medical aid, provident fund, and 13th cheque. The starting salary range for this position, depending on experience and skills, is R93 600 to R113 100 per annum (Total Cost to Company) depending on experience.
