Sales Representative Industrial Chemical Products

Area: Durban

Package: R20000 p/m plus commission, plus a company vehicle and med aid and pension.

Purpose of the position: To actively market a basket of chemical products to the Industrial sector, with the purpose of increasing market share, whilst providing excellent customer service

Key performance areas:

• Sales & Business Growth: Meet and exceed monthly and annual sales targets
• Customer Acquisition: Follow up on leads within 24 hours and develop new business opportunities
• Technical Consultation: Match the chemical products to various textures (wood, plastic, paper, carton, boards) based on customer needs
• Product & Industry Knowledge: Work closely with the lab to provide clients with the best chemical solutions, competing directly with industry rivals
• Account Management: Maintain and grow existing customer relationships, provide product training, and manage stock levels
• Debt Collection & Admin: Assist with collections, customer queries, and ensure accurate reporting
• Compliance & Operations: Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth order processing, stock management, and distribution

Skills, Experience & Education

Education:

• Grade 12 minimum
• Tertiary diploma or qualification in sales, marketing, or a related technical field (advantageous)

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of technical sales experience in plastic, paper & packaging, chemicals, or a related industry
• Proven track record in business development and sales
• Knowledge of chemicals (water-based, solvent, and hotmelt) (advantageous)
• Experience with Salesforce (advantageous)

Technical Expertise:

• Strong technical/industrial experience required
• Excellent knowledge of chemicals and their applications on different textures
• Lab/chemical experience is highly advantageous as this role involves liaising with the lab to develop competitive chemical solutions

Other requirements:

• Willingness to travel and work occasional weekends (trade shows and promotions)
• Ability to handle customer complaints professionally
