Traditional Russian Nesting Dolls. Imported from Moscow. These dolls are handcrafted and hand painted to the finest detail. The actual name for these dolls in Russian is called "Matryoshka", which literally means "Little Matron". Matryoshka symbolises motherhood and the fertility of a young woman. The largest doll symbolises a "Babushka" which means a grandmother or old woman, and each nesting doll symbolises the old woman's descendents. Traditionally, young girls approaching woman-hood were gifted a Matryoshka doll by her mother or grandmother which celebrated her fertility.
The dimensions of each doll is as follows:
1st doll = 25.5 cm
2nd doll = 18.5 cm
3rd doll = 14.5 cm
4th doll = 11.5 cm
5th doll = 9 cm
6th doll = 6.5 cm
7th doll = 5 cm
8th doll = 3 cm
9th doll = 2 cm
10th doll = 1 cm
The 10th doll is rather small. You can make choose to make a 9 piece set as opposed to a 10 piece.
Packaging:
Each doll comes covered in a plastic.
The doll does not come inside a box.

If you reside in Gauteng, you may collect.
If you reside outside of Gauteng, shipping charges will apply.
