Gumtree Seller Experience: Changes Affecting Your Account

In 2023, we are embarking on a journey to change and enhance how we support our professional sellers to give our professional sellers an improved customer interface and seller experience. 

At Gumtree South Africa, we are committed to providing our sellers with the best possible customer experience. We believe our new seller proposition will help our sellers like you sell better, sell faster, and reach your goals. 

This means that you will no longer log into Gumtree via our ProTool system but will instead be re-directed to the Gumtree website to log in. We will announce the date for this cutover very soon, so please keep an eye on all of our communication channels.

Here, you will gain access to a suite of new pro-selling features that individual sellers will not have access to. As a professional seller on the Gumtree platform, you will be able to access a variety of features such as:

  • Unlimited Listings
    We’re removing all ad limit restrictions for professional sellers. Post as many ads as you want; no need to worry about insertion limits. Read more about our Fair Use Policy here.

  • No Category Restrictions
    Find yourself needing to post in multiple categories that are relevant to your business? Go for it!

  • Verified Pro Seller Badge
    Enhance trust and set yourself apart by verifying your identity and mobile number to earn your badge.

  • New and Improved Ad Management
    Easy-to-use bulk product listing and management tools.

  • Marketing Bucks
    Say goodbye to ad feature packages! Cherry-pick which ads you want to promote and how you want to promote them! Bump-ups, Top Ads, Urgent Ads, or Homepage Gallery, you choose which ads to promote and where. 

    Your current ProTool package will be converted into Marketing bucks, AND over the next 3 months, we will give you 25% more moola to spend than what you are currently paying for!

  • Early Access To BETA features
    Gumtree will actively invest in rolling out new features each month to empower you to succeed as we take this journey to build out our enhanced seller experience in 2023. 

Changes to your account 

As mentioned, to offer an improved customer interface and seller experience for our professional sellers, we’re going to require some changes to how you currently use Gumtree. 

  • Login
    As stated above, you will no longer be able to log in to the ProTool platform as you have in the past. Instead, you’ll be redirected to the Gumtree front-end to log in via our normal user login.

    When you log in, you will find your complete seller profile, seller history, and all your active and expired listings exactly as you left them in the ProTool platform.

  • Multiple Logins
    Only the account owner will have an email address and password to log in to the Gumtree website.

  • Multiple reply emails & numbers
    Multiple reply emails and numbers will no longer be supported on ads. We will only use one mobile number and email address per ad to pass leads to.

  • Listing expiry
    To ensure we keep our content fresh, ads will have an expiry date; however, you will have an easy-to-use bulk reposting tool to choose which ads you want to re-activate.

  • Bump-ups
    Bumps Ups will no longer be auto-applied on a 24-hour basis, but instead you will now have the option to apply bump ups every 72 hours, or three times a week on the ads of your choice using your Marketing Spend.
