If you don't like sitting behind a desk, these jobs don't require you to do so

Once the schooling part of life has officially been completed, it then becomes time to start looking for a job and thus starting the cycle of a young person becoming an adult.

A good number of jobs offered these days require individuals to be seated behind a desk to do tasks like handling telephonic enquiries and administrative duties - which can become a bit mundane after a while.

While there are some that enjoy desk life, others have a yearning to be 'out there' and more hands-on. Gumtree lists a few deskless occupations:

Electrician

Most electricians work site and come out when there is an issue or work needs to be done. They usually have multi-purpose vans that can accommodate the variety of tools and equipment needed for a specific job. A pencil on the ear and clipboard is also close at hand to take measurements or write out invoices.

Chef

The only desk that a professional chef sees and works on is to cut fruit, meat or vegetables to make a dish for customers. While the job does not involve filling in paperwork, it can become very fast-paced and being on foot for long periods of time. The busiest periods are usually in the evening to the night where more people frequent restaurants.

Pilot

There is certainly no desk duty involved in this occupation - instead the 'desk' in this case, is the clouds and open air while flying passengers to their destinations. Besides actually flying the plane, the pilot is also responsible for performing pre- and post-flight inspections that can include fuel, engines, hydraulics and electronics.

Dentist

Most of their time is spent looking into the mouths of patients, inspecting the teeth, gums and other parts of the mouth, while they are laid out on a reclinable bench. A dentist's workspace is largely open space, with equipment found on certain places - though the receptionist will almost always be handling desk duties for the dentist(s).

Outbound sales representative

These guys and gals are on the road 99.9% of the time going from client to client so their vehicles are basically their office. There is also plenty of freedom that comes with it - though come month-end, the numbers have to look good.
