BILLING CLERK

An employment opportunity exists at Eden Gardens Private Hospital for a Billing Clerk (Final Billing), reporting to Finance Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the final billing and submission/release of all patient files to the different funders.

Key Responsibilities

· Application of ICD 10 codes, CPT codes, all medical aid tariffs and billing rules (in line with the NHN billing guide).

· Daily billing on all in and outpatient accounts (LOC, equipment and stock).

· Timeous closure and release of discharged patient accounts.

· Monitor receiving of discharged files and report delay trends.

· Final audit of all patient accounts prior to release.

· Monitor release system to ensure complete submission.

· Liaise with Case Managers, Ward staff, Pharmacy and Theatre to obtain correct CPT codes, stock codes, equipment details, theatre time, type of procedure, anaesthetic gasses, etc.

· Ensure regular and effective communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

· Ensure complete and efficient billing of all patient accounts requiring prosthesis.

Identify risk areas and give feedback to Management.

Minimum Requirements

· Grade 12 or equivalent qualification

· Previous experience in a Billing department essential

· Private healthcare industry knowledge and an understanding of Medical Scheme rules and regulations is important

· ICD 10 – coding knowledge

· Knowledge of Hospital Information System

· A nursing qualification will be an added advantage

· SAP experience will be ad added advantage

· Experience with billing under NHN guidelines will be an added advantage
