My name is Prisca, a highly trained, passionate and focused carer who was trained with REDCROSS SOCIETY IN Wynberg and have a certificate in Community based Care including advanced First Aid and CPR.

I was very lucky to find a post voluntary position at RUSTHOF OUTEHUS OLD AGE HOME in Paarl and nursed various patients who had not so similar ailments. They included patients with dementia/Alzheimer, cancer patients, patients with Parkinson illness, bed ridden frail patients, post operated patients and those with physical disabilities.

I worked a full-time position and my daily shift including performing various duties within resident patients and they included:

Bed changing each morning and caring out full wash on patients.

Grooming, makeup, skin and mouth care

Helping with incontinences including assisting able patients to the bathroom for shower

Feeding those patients who could not manage, including cleaning after them

Keeping the residence clean and well sanitized

Checking all vitals like sugar, blood pressure, pulse and temperature- making proper recordings

Cleaning catheters and tube feeding

Assisting nurses to give out medication on time plus strict monitoring.

Keeping moral within the home, helping within exercises and taking other patients out in the sun etc

I was employed again as carer from 2022 to late 2023 for a 87-year-old who needed assistance with daily living around the house. I helped to clean her, room, prepare meals, making sure she eats healthy, helped her with bathroom needs were possible, ensuring she takes her meds on time. checked vitals and to do errands including accompanying on doctors' visits.
